It’s Sunday evening and we arrived back tonight from our trip to Berlin and Leipzig. We stayed at René’s apartment in Berlin and we slept on his bunkbed while he stayed at his girlfriend’s place. There was a huge snow storm on Friday afternoon so we kept our sightseeing to a minimum. Friday evening we joined René and his girlfriend and a few others for dinner at Johannes’ place. He and his girlfriend have a really cute and modern loft-style apartment in the city. One of the nicer flats I’ve seen in Germany. It’s amazing how inexpensive it is to live in Berlin. After dinner we all walked over to the Ruder Club where Lars, Johannes, René and Stephane DJ’d. The music and sound were great…I really loved hearing Johannes play at the end of the night…he’s an amazing DJ and I think he should definitely get booked to play in the US. Hopefuly one day soon.
Saturday we took the train to Leipzig and Frankman picked us up at the train station. To our surprise we stayed at the same charming hotel we stayed at last time we were in town. We went out for drinks with Frankman, Joerg and his girlfriend at this new and very cute restaurant called Femi. Afterwards we went to Coco Bar where Lars was booked to play. A whole bunch of people I met last time had all come out to hear Lars play. The first DJ who played, Daniel, was unbelievably good and dropped a sweet deep house set. I gave hime props after his set, which he was very humbled with. Lars got on after Daniel and he completely rocked that place and totally gave his all, working both CD players and turntables and layering different tracks and samples. My husband is so fucking talented!! I love seeing him in his element like that and watching how the crowd reacts to him. The Coco Bar was totally packed that at one point there were people coming in and had to stand around for tables to open up. There was no designated dance floor, so lots of people got up and just dancing by there tables. Lars had that place jumping, including the owner who sat at our table and was loving it. He kept getting our group of friends rounds of drinks. He even opened up a bottle of 15 year old rum and had a pitcher of rum n’ coke for our table. It was madness and such an awesome night! The only major complaint I have, which applies to all bars/clubs in Europe is that nearly everyone smokes too fucking much and it was simply disgusting having my hair, skin and all my clothes and even my purse smell like an ashtray at the end of the night. It’s like go ahead and kills yourselves, but why do you have to make others sick in the process?

This morning was a treat though as we had breakfast brought to our room and ate it in bed while we watched Germany’s Next Top Model, hosted by Heidi Klum. Same exact replica of ANTM, with all the same drama. Reality TV seems to be having this huge wave here as we have in the US.

We are back in Cuxhaven now at my mommy-in-law’s. More to come in the next few days…
