We are sitting on a train on our way to Cuxhaven right now after spending four funtabulous days in Hamburg. This was the first time we stayed at a hotel in Hamburg, thanks to the promoter who booked Lars. We had a very comfortable and luxurious stay at the Marriott, smack in the middle of the city. I flew in on Wednesday, one day before Lars, and on Thursday I spent the majority of my day walking around, checking out the sights and did plenty of shopping. It was perfect because I knew before Lars arrives I should get the majority of my shopping and browsing done as I surely know, like most guys, how much he despises these outings. The weather in Hamburg really could not have been any more beautiful. It makes a huge difference being in Europe in the summer.

When Lars arrived on Thursday evening after a not so perfect flight schedule, he was extremely jetlagged and poor thing had all the symptoms of a cold. We met up with Constantin, his old roommate, and had dinner together at an outdoor cafe and then called it an early night. The next morning we were up at 6am..and not knowing what to do with ourselves we went for a nice swim at the indoor pool and chilled in the jacuzzi of our hotel. Lars still wasn’t feeling too well so we took it easy for the majority of the day, knowing that the we had a big night ahead of us.

Brian (Halo), who was DJ’ing that night with Lars, flew in from Las Vegas and the three of us met up for dinner before heading to the club. I should mention that I had started drinking wine since 7pm in our room and shared a bottle with Brian during dinner. By the time we arrived to the China Lounge, I was feeling nice and warm inside. The club had an interesting set up…house on the main floor, a hip hop room downstairs and and a patio to sit and chill in the back. It was so awesome to see a bunch of Lars’ friends who showed up. All our best buddies were there, including Behrouz, Ramin, Lars and Constantin. More drinks and then a hit off a joint that was being passed around in the patio, a shot of vodka someone handed me and I could feel myself getting somewhat tired and my eyelids heavy. I walked it off a bit and then found a comfy couch to relax on by the DJ booth where Halo had just started playing. I don’t remember when exactly I fell asleep but I can tell you it was the best power nap because I woke up about 45 minutes later feeling very refreshed and full of energy. Got up, danced more, fought off some drunk idiots who couldn’t keep hands to themselves, and we finally left the the club around 7am. We ran into some very interesting characters as we walked the red light district of the Reeperbahn in those wee hours. Luckily we had late check-out (2pm) on Saturday.

Brian realized that his flight left later that day to London, instead of Sunday as he originally thought. The three of us hung out in the city that afternoon and it was another gorgeous, sunny day full of people and life. Saturday night, which was last night, we stayed with Constantin and it was total deja-vu. We had the usual late breakfast, German style and all of us hung out and watched a movie. It was kind of nice to be back in Lars’ old flat. Next stop Cuxhaven, visiting family and getting plenty of rest and relaxation.

Check out more photos from our trip.
