When you’re browsing the web these days, you find a lot of posts regarding cassettes / tapes. Remember the good old mixtape a guy would record for his girlfriend - or in most cases - the girl of his desire. Or how about DJs handing out (or ‘illegally’ selling) tapes with their latest mix to make the rounds?!
Suck UK is bringing that vintage feel back by ‘updating’ technologies and taking it to USB. Record your mix on your computer, compile your favorite tunes and drop ‘em on this Mix Tape USB drive; handwrite your dedications on the drive, add your comments and playlist on the inner sleeve and you’re good to go. The finished mixtape is, in my opinion, a great gift idea for anyone over 20 (I don’t know if most people younger than that still know what a tape is) and will definitely romance your longterm relationship as well.
On another note..what happened to ‘Home Taping Is Killing Music’? The music industry struggles but more comfortable and easy ways to share illegally acquired music are coming out every day.
This product as well as its pricing is not available yet, but SUCK UK’s website announces the release for end of September. I’ll be getting my hand on a few of these for sure. Maybe to hand out a few of my own DJ-Mixes.

I don’t know where you find this stuff but its great. A really novel idea, but I would never want to bring back real tapes, for anyone like me old enough to remember them they always used to get unravelled and stuck in your tape deck. They’ll have a ipod that looks like a gramaphone next
Reply to Tara: Graphic Design BlogThough I never listen to my cassettes anymore, I can’t seem get rid of my collection. They just take up room in my closet these days. I know what mean about them getting stuck in the tape deck and remember having to roll them back into the spool with a pencil..or the good old scotch tape mend, when the tape split…
