As many will soon realize from my blog posts, I have an absolute fascination and somewhat obsession with vintage and retro ephemera. This especially includes vintage photos, postcards, magazines and advertisements. I’m always collecting and adding to my personal collection. Here’s a sampling of vintage print ads that I discovered online that are so bad in today’s standards, that it makes them great. Make sure you check out the hilarious video at the bottom of this post.

And as a bonus..here’s a TV ad for all you swingers. LMAO!!

Simply hilarious how those old ads are done but you’re right, they seem absolutely great in this day and age.
Reply to Nick Phillipsyes Nick..outrageous and funny..I’ve been coming across more and more of these vintage ads. Will post some more in the future.
Reply to katLooking forward to more of these ads
Reply to Nick PhillipsThese are great! so funny!
Reply to chrisAh, lard; is there anything it can’t do?
Reply to moosterLike the Lysol one, reminds me of what I’ve heard before of Barbara Bush.
Reply to erinThe lard ad isn’t real. It’s from an “adult comic” in Britain called Viz.
Reply to spiderWonderful Ads I ended up scanning in a bunch of vintage ads from Time Magazine last week and added a few to my flickr account. If anyone is interested in seeing more, please feel free to visit my set @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53113239@N00/sets/72157602171955833/

Reply to kittykatProphylaxis…bet sales went up as soon as they started calling them condoms. Then at least people could spell it.
Reply to Izabael DaJinnLard advert is a spoof created by English comic “Viz”
Reply to EHVery funny, love the Swing Wing. “They Are Happy Because They Eat Lard” is however, a spoof from Viz, a UK Comic.
Reply to mirthquakeThose are great! Too funny.
Reply to ELPThe worst offender I’ve run accross is an ad with the headline: Personal to Fat Girls, which featured an ad for vintage diet pills. Check it out on my ephemera blog. Growabrain linked to the Personal to Fat Girls post, bringing attention to how bad some of vintage ad copy could be. Yours are great examples, too.
Reply to Marty WeilNow I want a swing wing. One for my rowboat pal as well.
Reply to Snariusthere was a web page with ads like these and other funny stuff…but i can’t find it…
Reply to camrThese are great but I remember when I was a kid they had a Marlboro billboard with a mechanical cigarette which went to the man’s mouth.
That was horrendous by today’s standards.
