Some fresh illustrations from Sam Glynn, a 22 year old artist based in London, England. In his own words, describing his creative process:

I create my illustrations using anything I can get my hands on, whether its pens, pencils, spray paint, ink, print rollers or photography. I love dirty found textures, patterns and muted colours. I enjoy anything that makes interesting marks on the page. I utilise the computer to deconstruct my images with hand made elements and generally make a nice looking mess on the screen.

Recently I’ve been coming across more bizarre and hilarious ads from the past that I’d like to share. You may recall my original Vintage Advertising At Its Worst post.

The Sex Pistols have announced a concert to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of their controversial album Never Mind the Bollocks. Original members John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock will play at the Brixton Academy in London on November 8th. The group, who split in 1978, first reformed for a world tour in 1996 and last performed together in 2003.

In recent times, every time I surf the net (or in 99,9% of these particular cases, StumbleUpon sites), I catch myself becoming more and more fascinated with furniture which is designed in a clean, simple and very functional manner. Remember, the Safe Bedside Table?

Obvisously I decide not to blog about each piece but here’s one I wouldn’t mind having on our walls.

It looks like this is a prototype not available for purchase and only designed as part of Irish designer Catherine Greene’s graduation from the Royal College of Art (RCA).

Using carbon Kevlar fabric as a flexible hinge to connect pieces of wood together I create a moving surface which you can roll up and roll back again depending on use and need – in this case it is a shelf which rolls back to allow higher objects to sit on a lower shelf.

Think about it, how many times have you had something you wanted to put on a shelf and you ended up placing it on the top shelf because it’s too tall and the result is something that looks more like a church organ than an eye catching feature in your home.
