Great video. I never understood the amazement around his character and persona when I was younger, but I’m getting it now.

Notice where the first strikes Bruce Lee demonstrates on the older fellow originate from - in the area of the heart. That finger jab and straight punch are from Lee’s core art, wing chun kung fu, which he learned from the late Grandmaster Yip Man in Hong Kong. His description of a kung fu punch, a steel chain with a steel ball on the end, is an apt description of wing chun’s striking energy, and the attacks normally originate from the centerline. Wing chun is incredibly refined, yet simple, and Lee’s own approach, the art he named Jeet Kune Do, is most heavily influenced by wing chun thoughts and principles. It was a fated match, a most brilliant art for an excellent martial artist. Wing chun, for me, has been a bit like taking the red pill. Find a true traditional wing chun school and start classes. It will be a puzzle at first, but it will absolutely blow your mind.

Brilliant. He could take you eyes out of your head before you had a chance to blink.

No one before or since has had this mans personal magnitude or charisma this was truly a refreshing blast from the past. I’m glad such things are still around to be seen and they truly give a rare glimpse into the thoughts of one of the most intense artists of all time.
