Fascinating vintage clip from 1969 with predictions of the many advantages of home computers and what is now known as the internet. Well, they most of it right…
I’m curious to know what the origins of this video clip are. If anyone can identify what this was made for, please let me know.

Amazing how close they got. The shopping, similar to Ebay, the tax thingy isn’t available over here yet, but they probably have the somewhere in the world, where you can pay your phone bills, electricity.. etc. over the internet.
The funniest thing ever, with the first 80 ton heavy computer, they announced that somewhere around the year 2000, a computer would be only 2 tons heavy.
Reply to RobbieI live in Sweden and I can do taxes online and pay my bills at my banks homepage (as long as the company is offering the service, most do).
It’s quick, secure and hassle-free.
Reply to OggeIf anything wieghed 80 tons then it probably be the size of the moon.
Reply to GoobieBill Gates once said that he couldn’t ever see a family needing more than 1k of memory.
Reply to Muddy Monster (Hi Mum)Ha! What a classic movie. Now when are the telleporters coming?
Also, can we switch “e-mail” to “home post-offices?”
I’ll ask around the office and see if I can find who posted this.
Reply to Laranice video.
@MuddyMonster: no he didn’t. The rumor was that he said no computer would ever need more than 640K, but even that he denies. http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/1997/01/1484
Reply to soxosThis is….i can’t believe how it was in the past!
Reply to Sierraeven she has multiple monitors i can’t belive it , 1969 must of been the shit lol
Reply to williamMy. How far we’ve come. And besides if Bill Gates said that, that would’ve been in the past, when the world wasn’t so technologically advanced. Back then, 1K was a lot.
Reply to LeonI remember seeing this a few years ago, if I remember correctly it was made for some sort of, “In the Future” presentation at a Worlds Fair. Of course my memory is terrible, so I could be completely wrong!
Reply to Jay Alanfunny, fake video.
Reply to joey joe joe shabadooThis came from the 1969 Worlds Fair. They were tring to show what computers would be like after the invention of the transistor. It was in a section called Tormorrow Land.
Reply to JimThanks Jim for the historical background of the video. So cool that it was part of the World’s Fair and how accurate their predictions were. I really dig nostalgia like this.
Reply to katNot a fake. This was from a Philco/Ford documentary made in 1967 titled “1999 A.D.”
I remember seeing this several times in grade school at the time.
By the way, that’s Wink Martindale as the father!
