pistolsap.jpgThe Sex Pistols have announced a concert to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of their controversial album Never Mind the Bollocks. Original members John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock will play at the Brixton Academy in London on November 8th. The group, who split in 1978, first reformed for a world tour in 1996 and last performed together in 2003.

Never Mind The Bollocks… Here’s The Sex Pistols
, which included God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK, caused uproar when it was released in October 1977. But it was one of the defining records of the punk movement and is now recognized as one of the most influential albums in rock history.
The album’s reissue is to tie in with the anniversary, and four singles - God Save the Queen, Anarchy in the UK, Pretty Vacant and Holidays In The Sun - will be re-released on vinyl.

The NME magazine is running a campaign to get God Save the Queen to number one in the UK after it missed out first time around. It was originally banned by the BBC and ended up reaching number two at the time of the Queen’s silver jubilee - although some theories say the chart was manipulated to avoid embarrassment.

In related news, Medicom has commerated the legendary album with a toddler sized Sex Pistols 1000% Be@rbrick. This figure is just over two feet tall with bright pink and yellow colors, matching the cover of the album.

Why do I have to be in this part of the world, where we only ever seem to get gods and goddesses of pop? The last rock band that was here was Linkin Park, which I don’t really fancy!

Sigh… Punk’s Not Dead, Just Commercially Wounded.

P.S.- I heard a rumor that RATM is back together as well. Whopee!!! :)

Dave, there’s this thing called preference in music… I don’t go making fun of you just because you listen to The Engelbert Humperdink and Yanni, do I?
