These tiny handmade cardboard miniatures of old analog audio equipment by Daniel McPharlin have to be the cutest things I’ve seen in a long time. The fine details of these vintage machines that he has recreated into miniatures exhibit an amazing craftsmanship. According to Dan they are “an interesting experiment to render hi tech objects in a low tech medium such as paper or cardboard.”
Being a bit of a shoe freak..I can never have enough shoes in my closet. I was rather intrigued with the unusual collection of shoes over at The Virtual Shoe Museum. Started by Liza Snook in 2004, this online musuem has a huge collection of designer and experimental shoes from around the world. Visitors may view images of over 500 shoes accessible by time period, designers, brands, countries and ethnicity. Many images feature a “3-D” option that allows visitors to view objects from a rotating 360 degrees. The site also provides brief biographies of shoe designers with links to examples of the designer’s work in the collection.

There are so many graffiti documentaries out there these days its hard to keep up with them or stay interested. But this teaser trailer for an upcoming documentary by Underdog Pictures about GHOST, one of the most legendary and prolific bombers in NYC history looks pretty interesting. GHOST, who has historically remained rather reclusive, talks openly about the insanity involved in painting trains while the rest of the world is seemingly normal.
One of my favorite creative blogs that I like to visit from time to time is Randel Plowmen’s, A Collage A Day. Randel, an artist from Kentucky creates a new 4″x4″ collage every day and puts it up on his blog. To fund his artistic living, he also sells each collage for $25.00, which even includes 8″x8″ archival matting. Not only is he clever, he is a super-talented artist with a great eye for compostion. I really love the vintage images and type he sprinkles throughout his pieces.
Just found this on Reuters and had to share it.
Does anyone else smell Banksy or another street artist coming out with the video of how this man was created, put in the water etc.? Please let us know if you find out more about this:
AMSTERDAM (Reuters)
A giant, smiling Lego man was fished out of the sea in the Dutch resort of Zandvoort on Tuesday.
Workers at a drinks stall rescued the 2.5-metre (8-foot) tall model with a yellow head and blue torso.
“We saw something bobbing about in the sea and we decided to take it out of the water,” said a stall worker. “It was a life-sized Lego toy.”
