Party madness this past Friday evening as my husband Lars DJ’d at his monthly residency at Moonshadows in Malibu. (Name sound familiar? Well, Moonshadows is the restaurant/bar where Mel Gibson was partying it up the night of his infamous run in with Malibu police a couple years ago.) This spot is always great times..outdoor deck lounge overlooking the pacific ocean, the crowd, amazing food, stiff drinks and of course the MUSIC.
We started by sitting outside at a table on the deck, overlooking the ocean, and enjoyed an incredible gourmet dinner from the Moonshadows restaurant. And then Lars got behind the DJ decks, dropping some sweet music to start out the beautiful early evening. Soon after his guest DJ for the evening, our very good friend Tony Watson and his beautiful wife Angie showed up. Tony is one of my favorite DJ’s in LA and listening to him play is always a treat. Both Tony and Lars dropped some serious dope records throughout the night, never staying within a specific genre or style. As the evening went on the place became more and more packed and soon the place was jumping and getting crazy. People were dancing, singing out loud and screaming. I’ve never seen that place get that nutty. All in all..although I was having a sober evening, (Lars drank plenty for the both of us… haha! ) I had a seriously good time and met some great new people .
Click on the image mosaic above and it will take you to my flickr set of all the photos both me and Lars took. Or you can view the slideshow.
The Sex Pistols have announced a concert to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of their controversial album Never Mind the Bollocks. Original members John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock will play at the Brixton Academy in London on November 8th. The group, who split in 1978, first reformed for a world tour in 1996 and last performed together in 2003.

… oh yeah .. another post that will have our Google ads go crazy for German Hotels and Restaurants, rentals and whatnot. Kat’s already sitting on a plane (using miles can be a true pain in the ass esp. when you try to fly peak time in the summer; she had to leave a day early and come back 2days earlier than me) and I’m scheduled to take off tomorrow.
It’s been a tiring few days to get everything ready and prepared but it will be worth every minute. Besides one gig I’m playing at the China Lounge in Hamburg with my man Halo from Citydeep Rec. (more of my DJ-Gigs here), this will be a vacation for us. We get to hang out with my family, go to the beach in my hometown of Cuxhaven and do a few road trips here and there.. we’ll keep you updated.
Ok, enough of this .. the last show I had to pre produce for XM Radio is just done and I need some food.
More posts coming from Germany …
The Los Angeles street art community is likely aflame with the news that British graffiti phenom Banksy is planning a mid-September warehouse show in Los Angeles. Not entirely surprising as, judging by a recent spate of work, he’s been spending quite a bit of time here on the Left Coast hanging out with fellow artists.
Banksy’s last show, “Turf War,” featured vandalized police vehicles and live, painted farm animals, and caused quite a stir in London. The location for the Los Angeles event, titled “Barely Legal,” will be kept a secret until September 15th, the opening night of the show.
I’m totally excited and looking forward to check out what Banksy has up his sleeves for the LA audience.
The Urban Forest Project is a design-centric socially conscious event and exhibition. A collection of 185 tree-themed banners that will be on display in Times Square from September 1st to October 31st 2006. The banners represent work by a who’s who of the creative community. “Each banner uses the form of the tree, or a metaphor for the tree, to make a powerful visual statement. Together they create a forest of thought-provoking images at one of the world’s busiest, most energetic, and emphatically urban intersections.” All of them can be seen on The Urban Forest Project site.
After the banners come down they will be made into tote bags and sold at an auction. Proceeds will be given to arts-related scholarship funds.

As ol’skool Queen Latifah plays in the background U-N-I-T-Y!! …and Lars is packing his records for this afternoon’s Foundation party in downtown LA. I’m so looking forward to sip on a michelada, soak up the sun and listen to the beats of some our favorite local boys, plus DJ Karizma from Baltimore who is playing a 4-hour set from 10pm to 2am. Bring that bass..cause we gonna get this party started right.
