Just discovered wordle, a typographic word cloud generator that allows you to create a custom type graphic extracted from the rss feed of any website or from any set of words or sentences that you type. What I really love about this application is the ability to tweak the layout to create various color schemes, fonts, horizontal/vertical type..etc. It’s can definitely be addicting. You also have the option to add your creation to the wordle gallery. The one I created above is generated from katize.com. And the one below, I created (very appropriately) from one of my favorite websites, ilovetypography.

A hand drawn typographic series of works by ill studio, a French collective of creative collaborators “devoted to the fine arts”. Their goal is to bring ten individuals together, working in various artistic areas such as graphic design, photography, typography, illustration, video, motion design, etc.

The studio provides an environment wherein its member’s complementary influences meet, and contribute to the stimulation and development of the whole, whether the works produced are created collectively, or individually.

I cannot believe that I had not seen this purely genius music video for Alex Gopher’s, “The Child” until now. Always been a fan of this song which features the sampled vocals of Billie Holiday. Antoine Bardou-Jacquet is the creator of this impressive animated video that is composed entirely of typographic elements. Set in New York City, the video follows a young couple rushing through the city to reach the hospital to have their baby delivered. Graphic designers and typography lovers will surely cream for this one.

I hope all you graphic designers will get as much of a kick out of this sketch as I did. Silly, yet so true.
